A delicious and creamy cauliflower gratin, perfectly cooked in an air fryer. This recipe combines the soft texture of boiled cauliflower with a wonderful cheese sauce and a crispy topping, all without needing a traditional oven.
Preheat the air fryer to 180°C. (Preset it, or let it run for a couple of minutes before cooking)
Boil 1 pcs head of cauliflower as florets in lightly salted water in a pot for about 5 minutes, until tender.Drain and let them cool.
In a bowl, melt 2 tbsp butter in the microwave or on the stovetop. Add 2 tbsp plain flour and stir well until it forms a paste.
Gradually add 2 ½ dl cream while stirring to make a smooth sauce. Let the sauce simmer for a couple of minutes until it starts to thicken.
Add 4 dl grated cheddar cheese and 1 dl parmesan cheese to the sauce and stir until the cheese has melted and the sauce is creamy. Season to taste with 1 tsp Salt and pepper.
Add the boiled cauliflower florets to the cheese sauce and mix gently so they are well coated in the sauce.
Transfer the cauliflower mixture to the air fryer basket (or a large silicone mould) and spread it out evenly.
Sprinkle 1 dl panko breadcrumbs over the cauliflower mixture in the air fryer basket.
Air fry the cauliflower gratin in the air fryer at 180°C for about 10-12 minutes, until the topping is crispy and golden brown.Start the online kitchen timer here
Serve immediately, garnish with 1 bunch Fresh parsley if you like, and enjoy!
