In some recipes you can read that you should preheat your airfryer for a couple of minutes before the dish goes in.
But our assessment is very clearly that you don’t need to.
An airfryer heats up so quickly that it doesn’t make sense. If your dish ends up needing a little more, just give it a couple of extra minutes in the airfryer.
As a general rule you can use the same things as in a regular oven.
That is, both foil, aluminum trays, and paper cups. But just be aware that there should be about a centimeter of air all the way around, otherwise the heat can’t reach the bottom.
Make sure it can’t fly around inside the airfryer!
Note: Many manufacturers recommend not using it. Mainly because of heat distribution. So always check the instruction manual.
You can use a little bit of oil.
But it’s important to use an oil with a high smoke point in the airfryer. Sunflower oil, for example, has a fairly high smoke point of about 227 degrees.
If you want to add oil to your food, add the oil to the top of the ingredients before you start cooking, not into your airfryer.
Some airfryers have a reheat function designed for exactly this. If your airfryer doesn’t have this function, you can simply set it to 150 or 160 degrees and give the dish 10 to 15 minutes.
You can use your airfryer for defrosting. An airfryer can do much more than just fry your food thanks to its fan configuration with one or more speeds. It can defrost your frozen foods. Such as vegetables, fish cakes, or grandma’s buns for the birthday party.
You can cook frozen food in your airfryer. However, it may be necessary to adjust the cooking time and temperature to ensure that the food is cooked through and crispy. Start with 160 degrees for 6 minutes for most foods.

But start by cooking the meat, as it often takes longer than the vegetables. After about half of the expected cooking time for the meat, add the vegetables.
