Cupcakes in the airfryer – My favorite guide to fluffy and festive cakes
Welcome to my section dedicated to cupcakes! My name is Morten from airfryerkogebogen.dk, and I must admit that small portion cakes are one of my great weaknesses. I have spent countless hours in the kitchen whisking, baking, and taste-testing to build up solid first-hand experience with cupcakes in the airfryer. Whether you dream of a classic vanilla cupcake with an airy frosting or an intense, fluffy chocolate variant, I have done the groundwork for you.
When baking cupcakes, the right balance between heat and time is absolutely crucial to avoid dry cakes. That is why I share exclusively my own thoroughly tested expertise and honest recipes here on the site. You can confidently trust that my guides are accurate and reliable, so you always get a perfect result, ready to be decorated and served to those you care about.
That is why the airfryer is brilliant for cupcakes
Skipping the large oven when the sweet craving hits, or when baking for a children’s birthday, is absolutely genius. Here are the reasons why the airfryer is my preferred baking partner in everyday life:
- Lightning-fast baking: You save the long preheating time of a traditional oven. Cupcakes bake in a flash and are often ready in just 12-15 minutes.
- Perfect for small portions: Got unexpected guests? You can quickly whip up a small batch of 4-6 cupcakes without wasting unnecessary electricity on a large oven.
- Beautiful and even rise: The intense and even air circulation helps the batter rise nicely, so you get the perfect top for your frosting.
- Retains moisture: The quick baking encapsulates the moisture in the batter, which is my secret behind a soft and fluffy crumb.
FAQ – Frequently asked questions about cupcakes in the airfryer
Can I use ordinary paper liners?
Paper liners on their own can be a bit of a challenge. Because the fan in the airfryer is powerful, the light paper liners can lose their shape or blow around a little before the batter sets. My most tested and safe method is to place the paper liners inside sturdy silicone molds. This holds the shape perfectly and ensures a consistent result.
How do I prevent the top from burning?
The heating element sits very close to the cakes, which can quickly give them color. My absolute best and most reliable trick is to lower the temperature a touch (typically to around 150-160 degrees). This gives the cakes time to finish baking in the middle without the top getting too dark. If they still start to take on too much color, you can loosely place a small piece of foil over them.
How do I know when my cupcakes are fully baked through?
Just as in a regular oven, I always recommend using a small skewer or a wooden stick. Insert it into the middle of one of the cakes towards the end of the baking time – when the stick comes out completely clean, with no raw batter, your cupcakes are done and ready to cool on a rack.
