Scrambled eggs are breakfast’s answer to pure comfort food – soft, creamy and ready in no time. Making scrambled eggs in the air fryer might sound like a detour, but it’s actually one of the gentlest methods out there. The even, enveloping heat makes it hard to overcook the eggs, and the result is silky-soft scrambled eggs without the rubbery texture you so easily hit on a scorching-hot pan.

In this guide I walk through the exact temperature, timing and technique, so you get creamy scrambled eggs every time – whisked with a good knob of butter, exactly as it should be. I also share the mistakes I made myself before I found the sweet spot.

Why I love scrambled eggs in the air fryer
The big advantage of the air fryer is that the heat comes from all sides at once and is easy to control. You don’t have to stand hunched over a pan where the bottom burns while the top is still raw. Instead you whisk the eggs with a knob of butter, pour them into an ovenproof dish and stir a couple of times along the way. The butter gives the rich, slightly luxurious flavour, and because you can take the dish out and stir, you have full control over when the eggs are exactly as soft as you want them.
The difference between air fryer and pan
On the pan, everything depends on how quickly you remove the eggs from the heat – a couple of seconds too late, and they turn dry. In the air fryer the temperature drops immediately when you open the basket to stir, so you have a larger margin to work with. That makes the method especially suitable if you’re making breakfast for several people and can’t stand glued to the stove.
My test in the kitchen of scrambled eggs
I’ve tested the scrambled eggs in my Cosori Dual Blaze at 150 °C. Four eggs whisked with a tablespoon of butter and a pinch of salt, poured into a small ovenproof dish, were perfectly creamy after 9 minutes with stirring every 3 minutes. At 160 °C it went faster – around 7 minutes – but it requires closer watching, because the edges set before the centre. For larger portions I used a Philips XXL, where eight eggs took about 12 minutes. The point is to take the dish out while the eggs still look a touch loose; the residual heat does the rest.
Take the scrambled eggs out while they still glisten slightly and seem a little loose – they keep setting on their own on the way to the plate.

The typical mistakes and how to avoid them
The most common mistake is too high a temperature. If you turn it up hoping to save time, the egg coagulates on the outside before the centre catches up, and you end up with dry, crumbly lumps – stick to 150 °C and give it those extra minutes. The second classic is forgetting to stir; without stirring every two to three minutes the bottom bakes on while the top stays runny, so set a timer. The third mistake is waiting too long to take the dish out – eggs keep cooking in the hot dish, so what looks perfect in the air fryer is overdone by the time it hits the plate. Stop while they’re still glossy.
How to serve scrambled eggs
Creamy scrambled eggs are a blank canvas that can be dressed up in every direction. Here are my favourites:
- Toasted sourdough with butter and fresh chives
- Crispy-fried bacon or chorizo on the side
- Grated cheese stirred in during the last 30 seconds
- Smoked salmon and a dollop of crème fraîche
- A sprinkle of flaky salt and freshly ground pepper
Storage and reheating
Scrambled eggs are best freshly made, but leftovers can be kept in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. Reheat on low power – either in the air fryer at 120 °C for 2–3 minutes with a single stir, or briefly in the microwave in 15-second intervals. Add a small knob of butter during reheating to give back the moisture; otherwise the eggs easily turn dry.
With the right temperature and a little patience, the air fryer delivers some of the softest scrambled eggs you can make – without constant watching at the stove. Experiment with the time until it matches exactly your taste.
FAQ
150 °C is the safe choice for creamy scrambled eggs. It gives you time to stir along the way without the eggs turning dry. 160 °C goes faster but requires closer watching.
Yes, pour the whisked eggs into a small ovenproof dish or cake tin. Eggs can’t be poured directly into the basket, as they run through the holes.
It’s most often due to too high a temperature or too long a time. Take the dish out while the eggs still look a little loose, as they keep setting from the residual heat.

Recommended equipment
- 1 Air fryer
- 1 Ovnfast form (airfryer-sikker)
- 1 Mixing bowl
- 1 Whisk
- 1 Dough scraper
Shopping list
Ingredients
- 8 pcs eggs
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 dl whole milk
- 0.5 tsp salt

- 1 pinch black pepper (Freshly ground)
- 1 tbsp chives (Finely chopped, for garnish)
How to make it
Preparation
- Preheat the air fryer to 160 °C on convection.

- Crack 8 pcs eggs into a mixing bowl. Add 1 dl whole milk, 0.5 tsp salt and 1 pinch black pepper, and whisk it together well with a whisk until the mixture is smooth and lightly frothy.

Cooking in the air fryer
- Melt half of the 2 tbsp butter and brush or spread it around the oven-safe dish so the eggs don’t stick. Pour the egg mixture into the dish.

- Place the dish in the air fryer and cook at 160 °C for 4 minutes.

- Pull the dish out and stir thoroughly with a spatula so the set outer parts blend into the soft middle. Dot the rest of the butter in small knobs over the eggs — that gives the creamy texture.

- Continue cooking at 160 °C for 2-4 minutes, stirring the eggs once halfway through. The scrambled eggs are done when they are softly set but still glossy and creamy. Be careful not to overcook them — they keep setting from the heat.

Plating
- Take the dish out and stir the scrambled eggs one last time. Sprinkle with 1 tbsp chives and serve right away, while they’re warm and soft.

Our notes for the recipe
The secret behind soft, creamy scrambled eggs is low heat and frequent stirring. Take them out a minute too early rather than too late — they keep setting from the residual heat, and overcooked eggs turn dry and grainy. Variation:
Swap the whole milk for a splash of heavy cream for even richer and more luxurious eggs, or stir in grated cheese, cured ham or fresh herbs in the last few minutes. Serving:
Serve the scrambled eggs on toast or with crispy bacon, fresh tomatoes and a slice of good rye bread for a filling breakfast or brunch. Portion size:
If your air fryer is smaller, you can split the egg mixture into two smaller dishes and make the scrambled eggs in two batches.
