I love the American version here just as much as I love the thin Danish pancake. The main difference for me is that the thicker version pairs wonderfully with syrup or another kind of sweet “sauce” topping — like warm, flowing salted-caramel sauce. With the Danish version, I prefer it completely traditional, with jam, sugar and a little vanilla ice cream on the side.

I recommend this delicious cup of coffee to go with our American Pancakes Made in an Air Fryer
There’s something truly special about sitting down with a steaming cup of coffee and a stack of soft, fluffy American pancakes — breakfast at its very best. I prefer a medium-roast arabica with a round, smooth flavour and not too much bitterness, so it doesn’t overpower the sweet, vanilla-scented batter or the maple syrup. The fruity, fresh acidity of a good arabica plays beautifully against the rich, buttery taste of the pancakes. I warmly recommend Freehand Gently Coffee Beans – 1 kg. — an elegant medium-roast arabica with soft notes that takes your breakfast to a whole new level.

Shopping list
Ingredients
- 240 g all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt

- 4 dl milk
- 2 pcs large eggs
- ¼ dl melted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
How to make it
Prepare the Batter:
- Mix the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, salt) in a large bowl.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently. Avoid overworking the batter; small lumps are okay.
Prepare the Air Fryer:
- Preheat the air fryer to 360°F (180°C).
- Place parchment paper or aluminum foil in the bottom of the air fryer basket. Cut it to fit and make sure it doesn’t cover the air circulation holes.
Cook the Pancakes:
- Use a large spoon or pitcher to pour the batter into the air fryer. Make small pancakes, as they are easier to handle and flip.
- Make sure to leave space between each pancake for good air circulation.
Baking:
- Cook the pancakes for about 5-7 minutes, or until they start to bubble on the surface and turn golden brown on the edges.
- Gently flip them with a spatula and cook the other side for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
Serving:
- Serve the pancakes warm with your favorite toppings such as maple syrup, butter, berries, or whatever you prefer.
Our notes for the recipe
- Experiment with cooking time depending on your air fryer model.
- If the pancakes don’t turn out as golden as you’d like, you can slightly increase the temperature.
- Avoid overcrowding the air fryer, as it can affect cooking and prevent the pancakes from achieving the desired texture.
