Why make muesli buns in the air fryer?
The air fryer uses circulating hot-air technology that can quickly bake small portions like muesli buns. This also ensures they turn out crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This method is not only energy-efficient but also time-saving, as the heating time is often shorter than in a traditional oven.
Why use muesli in buns?
Muesli not only adds texture and flavour to the buns; it also boosts the nutritional content. Muesli typically contains a mix of rolled oats, nuts and dried fruit, all of which contribute essential fibre, protein and healthy fats. These ingredients provide a longer-lasting feeling of fullness and supply a range of different vitamins and minerals that are important for the body’s daily functions.
Enjoy your muesli buns with a lovely cup of morning tea
Muesli buns are fantastic for the breakfast table or as a snack, and they taste even better with a good hot drink alongside. I can warmly recommend a classic Just T Sunrise Breakfast tea, which has exactly the right mild and warm flavour to complement the buns in the very best way. Enjoy!
Which flavour variations of muesli buns can you make?
1. Chocolate and Hazelnut: By adding chopped dark chocolate and crushed hazelnuts to the muesli mix before baking, you can create a rich and satisfying variation. The chocolate melts easily during baking and gives a delicious texture, while the hazelnuts add crunch and nutty depth.
2. Cranberry and Orange: For a fresher, more fruity version, you can add dried cranberries and freshly grated orange zest to the dough. The cranberries add a natural sweetness and tartness, while the orange zest gives a fresh and aromatic note.
3. Coconut and Mango: Add dried mango pieces and a handful of coconut flakes for a tropical twist. The mango pieces are sweet and juicy, and the coconut flakes contribute a subtle sweetness and an exotic flavour.
Brush the buns with a little melted butter or a lightly beaten egg, just before they go into the air fryer. This will not only give them a beautiful, golden colour but also a lovely crispy crust.

Which jam or topping pairs well with these particular buns?
Muesli buns go well with various types of jam and spreads. A classic choice is strawberry jam, which complements most muesli bun variations with its sweet and slightly tart flavour. It tastes lovely for breakfast. For a more decadent experience, a good dollop of Nutella or peanut butter can also be delicious as a snack. If you want to keep the topping healthy, a skyr or Greek yoghurt with a sprinkle of fresh berries can also be a fresh and tasty choice.
