Why Make Granola in the Air Fryer?

Making granola in the air fryer has several advantages compared to the traditional oven method. First and foremost, it’s much faster. An air fryer can significantly reduce cooking time, making it possible to prepare a fresh batch of granola in under 15 minutes. This is especially useful on busy mornings, when time is short.

Another advantage is even cooking. The air fryer circulates hot air around the food, ensuring the granola toasts evenly and develops a consistent golden colour. This can be a challenge in an oven, where the granola often needs to be turned several times to avoid burnt edges.

Drink Recommendation

As your personal barista, I recommend a cup of hot Sunrise Breakfast tea with your homemade granola. The tea’s fresh notes pair beautifully with the toasted oats and nuts, giving you the perfect start to the day.

What Kind of Food Is Granola and Where Does It Come From?

Granola is a mixture of toasted oats, nuts, seeds and sweeteners such as honey or syrup. It can also contain dried fruit, chocolate or other flavourings. Granola was invented as a sprinkle in the USA in the late 1800s and was originally marketed as a healthy breakfast food.

Granola’s popularity grew explosively in the 1960s and 1970s alongside the health food movement. Today, granola is a staple in many homes and is often served as part of a healthy, balanced diet. Its origins as a healthy snack mean it’s rich in fibre, protein and healthy fats, making it a nutritious choice for many people.

  • Spiced:Experiment with spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, ginger or nutmeg to give your granola a warm, spiced flavour.
  • Protein-Rich Granola:Add protein powder and extra nuts and seeds for a granola that’s perfect for supporting an active lifestyle.

Add chia seeds or flaxseeds to your granola for an extra boost of omega-3 fatty acids and fibre that supports healthy digestion.
