You can replace the salmon with most types of fish. You just have to adjust the time slightly up or down, depending on the type of fish.

The evolution of the salmon lasagna
But as the gastronomic landscape has evolved, chefs and food enthusiasts have experimented with different ingredients to bring new dimensions to familiar dishes. Using salmon instead of beef in lasagna is a great example of this evolution, where the delicate, light flavor of salmon beautifully complements the deeper tones of spinach and cheese.
Salmon Lasagna with Spinach in Air Fryer a healthier choice
This combination of salmon and spinach is not only a gastronomic delight, but also a healthier alternative to the traditional lasagna. The salmon provides a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids, while the spinach contributes vitamins and minerals.
I recommend this elegant Chardonnay with our salmon lasagna
The creamy ricotta and rich salmon in this lasagna deserve a wine with a little body and freshness. A good Chardonnay, with its soft fruit and delicate oak character, pairs perfectly with the buttery salmon, while the acidity cuts through the cheese and keeps the dish in balance. I can warmly recommend Hamilton Russell Vineyards Chardonnay 2023 – it is simply made for fish and creamy dishes like this one.
This dish is a testament to how you can transform a classic favorite into a modern, healthier version that still preserves the depth and heartwarmth of the original recipe. The salmon lasagna with spinach is a tribute to both the traditions of the past and the culinary innovations of the future.

Our notes for the recipe
Cooking Tips:
- Fresh Ingredients: Use fresh spinach and good-quality salmon for the best flavour.
- Lasagna Sheets: If you use dried lasagna sheets, it’s a good idea to pre-soak them in warm water for a few minutes to make sure they cook through completely.
- Even Distribution: Make sure to spread the ingredients evenly across the layers, so every bite has a good balance of salmon, spinach and cheese.
- Check the Cooking: Since air fryers vary, keep an eye on the lasagna while it cooks to avoid it getting too brown.
Serving Suggestions:
- Fresh Herbs: Garnish with fresh herbs like dill or parsley to add freshness and colour.
- Salad: Serve with a light mixed green salad with a simple vinaigrette to add freshness and balance.
- Bread: A piece of crusty baguette or focaccia bread is excellent for soaking up any sauce.
- White Wine: A cool, dry white wine like Pinot Gris or Chardonnay will complement the flavour of the salmon perfectly.
- Lemon: Serve with a wedge of lemon to squeeze over, which will bring out the flavour of the fish.
