Why make Lasagnette in the air fryer?
When it comes to lasagnette, there are several good reasons to use an air fryer:
- Faster cooking time: The air fryer circulates hot air around the food, resulting in faster and more even cooking. This means you can have your lasagnette ready in about 25 minutes, as opposed to the longer time it takes in a traditional oven.
- Energy-saving: The air fryer uses less energy than a regular oven, as it heats up faster and cooks the food in less time. This can result in a lower electricity bill and a more environmentally friendly cooking method.
- Space-saving: For those who live in small apartments or have limited kitchen space, the air fryer is a compact solution that can replace the need for a large oven.
- Healthier cooking: The air fryer requires less oil for cooking, resulting in a healthier dish with less fat and fewer calories.
What is the difference between lasagne and lasagnette?
Although lasagne and lasagnette share many of the same ingredients, there are some significant differences between the two dishes:
I recommend this refreshing soda for our lasagnette in the air fryer
Lasagnette is a dish that brings the whole family together around the table, and for such an occasion it is important to have a drink that everyone – young and old – can enjoy. The sweet, slightly tangy flavour of a good orange soda complements the rich tomato sauce and the creamy béchamel sauce beautifully, without overpowering the Italian flavour notes of oregano and basil. I can warmly recommend Naturfrisk Orange Soda – it is Danish, naturally carbonated and adds a crisp, fresh touch to the meal that both the children and the adults at the table will appreciate.
- Pasta: Lasagne uses wide, flat lasagne sheets, while lasagnette uses pasta twists or other types of short pasta. This difference in pasta shape gives lasagnette a different texture and makes it easier to prepare. Families with children are often fond of this variation too, as it is easy for younger children to eat.
- Cooking time: Lasagne can take longer to prepare, especially if you make it from scratch with homemade sheets and sauce. Lasagnette, on the other hand, can be prepared more quickly, especially when made in an air fryer.
- Assembly: Traditional lasagne is known for its layered components, where pasta, meat sauce and béchamel sauce are repeatedly stacked in layers. Lasagnette is usually mixed together, which makes it easier and quicker to assemble.
Use chicken instead of beef
You can easily use chicken instead of beef in lasagnette. This can make for a lighter dish and suits those who prefer poultry. When using chicken, there may be a few adjustments to the recipe:
- The meat: Use minced chicken instead of minced beef. Chicken has a milder flavour and may require extra seasoning to achieve a full-bodied taste.
- Seasoning: To give the chicken more flavour, you can add extra spices such as paprika, thyme or rosemary. These spices complement chicken well and add depth to the dish.
- Sauce: You can use the same tomato-based sauce as in the original recipe, but consider adding a little chicken stock for extra flavour. Béchamel sauce can still be used as well.
- Cooking time: Chicken generally cooks faster than beef, so be careful not to overcook the meat, as it can become dry.
What do you serve with Lasagnette in the air fryer?
Lasagnette in the air fryer is a versatile dish that can be served with a variety of side dishes to complete the meal:
- Salad: A fresh green salad with a light vinaigrette can balance the rich flavour of lasagnette. Consider a simple mix of rocket, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and red onion.
- Bread: Garlic bread or a crusty baguette is a classic side that can be used to soak up the delicious sauces.
- Vegetables: Steamed or roasted vegetables such as broccoli, asparagus or carrots add colour and nutrients to the meal.
To give your lasagnette extra depth and flavour, you can add a layer of ricotta cheese between the layers of pasta twists and meat sauce. This will add a creamy texture and rich flavour.
